Sarod
The sarod is an Indian version of banjo and rabab.
Like a banjo, it is a stringed instrument with the soundboard made of
goat-skin. However, the overall design is similar to the rabab. Unlike the
rabab, this instrument contains several resonating sympathetic strings, has no
frets, and most of the action of this instrument is done by sliding the finger
tip or finger nail against the metal fingerboard. The overall instrument is
made of wood.
