In
Bengali kirtans, bhajans,
and light classical forms of music, the rendition of ektal,
known as Bengali ektal, is one of the most popular
rhythms. The format is a mix between tintal, dadra, and ektal. The symmetrical
form of tintal, the triadic nature of dadra tala, and the length of ektal makes this tala one of the
most interesting ones to play and listen.
